Comment:
The Geelong players and 1500 spectators were on the cricket ground, hut the Carlton men, iu meeting assembled, and held at a hotel in tho town, decided not to play in the wet weather, this decision being communicated to the Geelong players half an hour after tho game should have been commenced. Tho greatest indignation prevailed amongst the spectators, who severely condemned the proceedings of the Carlton players. The Geelong team, dressed in uniform, took the field, kicked the ball off the centre and claimed the match. - The Age 13-Sep-1880 p3
